Lee Geary Grafton, Ph.D.
I have been an Education Technology Specialist for Palm Springs Unified School District for the past 16 years. I am dedicated to serving the teachers and students in our 26 schools, and beyond, the skills needed to be literate in our global society. I am energized when I can collaborate and learn from teachers, students, and my colleagues in the community to ensure our youth are prepared for their futures. Toward that end, I am a founding member of the appsinclass team, EdCamp Palm Springs, and an avid twitter follower of #edchat.
A project that I am particularly passionate about is DIGICOM. I am one of the founding producers of DIGICOM and have helped this nationally recognized, award-winning program grow over the past 6 years. DIGIGOM now includes a student and teacher film festival, digital storytelling and film-making workshops, after school programs for middle school students, as well as providing funds for classroom grants, and student scholarships. The program has been presented the distinguished Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association (CSBA) and recognized as a Riverside County Model of Excellence Program.
Prior to coming to Palm Springs, my career included teaching 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade students in California and Ohio, teaching pre-service teachers at Wright State University, and teaching students in the field of Communications at Miami University of Ohio. I have also taught Research Methods for California State University, San Bernadino's Educational Leadership Program and my career has also included work in the private sector as an Education Manager at Ameritech (currently known as AT&T).
I am proud to be an active member of CUE, serving on several committees and Boards, and I regularly present at regional, national, and state conferences. I have a Bachelors in Education, plus a Masters and Doctorate in Organizational Communications from Bowling Green State University, Ohio. I also have a Masters in Educational Administration from California State University, San Bernardino and am is committed to being a learner and as I continue to upgrade my credentials. I have completed my National Education Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A) Certification, National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T) Certification, and Leading Edge Online Teaching Certification. I am currently working towards her my Leading Edge Digital Teacher Certification and will soon be working on my Leading Edge Professional Learning Leader Certification.
I could not be happier to meet you and look forward to learning together!
